A modern tribute to the keffiyeh (kufiya), the woven cotton scarf of Palestinian and wider Levantine heritage, and its three classic motifs: the fishnet, the bold lines and the olive leaves. Here they are arranged as the fishnet field and olive-leaf border, crossed by a band of tatreez eight-pointed stars in cross-stitch between bold lines, where the woven scarf meets the embroidered dress, in black on off-white with madder-red stars.

This is our own composition, drawn from scratch rather than copied from a scarf: a dotted fishnet lattice with a solid leaf at every crossing, bands of thick and thin lines, and olive leaves paired along a stem, on a fine woven-cotton look. The star band is drawn stitch by stitch, x-stitch over x-stitch, like the tatreez cases in this collection. Printed, not woven.
