Dates and Water Sunnah Iftar by AdabStars: The Prophet broke his fast with fresh dates, or dried dates if there were none, and if not, a few sips of water (Abu Dawud 2356). He also encouraged opening the fast with a date, otherwise water (Tirmidhi 695).
